It’s Earth Day Every Day!

I’m doing my part by actively

I’m doing my part by actively instilling a love and appreciation for the Earth in my 4/o daughter. Luckily for me, she is very receptive to it and has a heart that loves the green earth, it’s beauty, and all that it provides for us.

biking to work

I’m fortunate enough to live within 3 miles of my office, so I’ve been biking to work almost every day. I love how infrequently I’ve been visiting the gas station!

Always use reusable grocery bags

for shopping and for gift wrapping :D

Always recylce -

And help spread the word to the youth how important it is to recycle.

Earth First!

I am leaving the Earth better than I found it by reusing, reducing, and recycling. I also support and buy organic, natural, and fair trade food and products. I use all natural cleaners. We also do not use pesticides.

I recycle whenever I can.

I recycle whenever I can.

I grow my own fruit, veggies

I grow my own fruit, veggies and herbs.

I recycle whenever and

I recycle whenever and whatever possible and plant a garden in my back yard:)

Not only protect earth myself but also educate others around me

I recycle, wipe greasy pans/bowls with tissues before rinsing with water, think before purchasing anything to avoid wasting, chat and discuss with friends about the importance of being evironment friendly and the problems they are creating to the earth unconsiously.

Taking care of the earth

I recycle, reuse, renew, and refurbish as much as possible.

No Chemicals

I use water strategically on my lawn and plants. I never use chemicals.

Recycle

No one at the office recycles anything. I have bins toi help seperate cans/plastics so everyone can start recycling at work.

my mother and i have started

my mother and i have started to carpool to work and we each save a tank a week by doing this

Be green Save green

My family and I have switched to earth friendly cleaning products and electric motor vehicles to reduce the damage to both our planet and the ozone layer.

What I do :)

unlike alot of people, i only take showers in less than 6 minutes even though i wash my hair! i bring my tumbler everywhere and i use reusable shopping bags!

My family recycles, we have

My family recycles, we have switched cleaning and hair/bodycare products to environmentally friendly products and I do my best to buy organics and local food items. My kids are also environmentally aware and love to recycle, in fact if we are out and there are no recycling bins my 10 year old will hold the empty h20 bottles until we get home. When she was six she wrote to our (then) apartment complex to get a recycling program started.

Better than I found it

My family is switching all of our cleaning products to environmentally friendly products.  We also re-use pasta water to water plants, and buy local/organic as much as possible.

Reducing, Reusing and Re(CYCLING)

Doing my best to tread lightly on the earth. Reducing the amount of stuff I throw away by choosing to buy products with the least amount of packaging. Bringing my refillable coffee mug with me everywhere. Cycling to work. (and, of course, eating Nature’s Path products!)

We are the Earth!

Our family of five constantly strives to leave the Earth a better place than we found it. We “get” that if the Earth is healthy, we will be healthy. So we recycle and compost, we make conscious decisions about what we buy and how our purchases impact the planet, we drink plenty of clean, filtered water, we pick up trash left by someone else on the ground and plant trees…and we eat Nature’s Path gluten-free foods!

What the Munros are doing

We pay extra to have Bullfrog power our home. We have rainbarrels that we use to water the flowers and vegetables, and we use no chemicals on either (or the lawn). We recycle and compost. We have programmable thermostat and lots of sweaters. We try to walk and bike as much as we can, even tho we live in a fairly large city. We are trying to make sure the children are raised in this environment so it’s second nature to them to think about the impact their actions have.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

We do all that we can, which includes recycling, ridding the home of all plastic, buying local & organic, using Eco-friendly diapers, making our own Eco-friendly cleaners, buying Eco-friendly everything, reducing our waste, etc…

The little things.

Every time I am outside, I always pick up at least one piece of trash.  Whenever I see that someone has forgotten to recycle, I always try and place the item into a nearby recycling bin.

Teaching my children...

One of my favourite proverbs about our earth is, “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”- Native American Proverb. I look for many ways to do things that will help me and my children Love Our Earth… We do the 3 R’s when we can, compost, and plant our own veggie garden in the summer.

I add to the earth by

I add to the earth by planting flowers, trees, and growing my own vegetables right from my backyard.

Earth-day, Birth-day!

My birthday is April 22. So, my birthday is a reminder of “earth-day” as well every year. I like your motto though, “Earth-Day Every-Day!” And I try and live this every day by reducing trash and composting. Gardening in my urban setting, and buying the most local and sustainable food I can. I love living “green” it just seems right and good!

Saving the planet with education

I am so amazed and encouraged by how others find wonderful ways to reduce and reuse. But there are so many people that are still so very unaware of the chemicals we eat, breath and soak into our skin. I educate my patients about organics, as well as amazing resources (ie. Books and websites) that give them guidelines on how to avoid chemicals in foods, furnishings, cosmetics, home building products, clothing, etc. My hope is that we can all learn from each other and that we all learn to live with less so the earth can have more!!!

Vegan solar power

My family & I are organic vegans who love our earth. We get our power from solar panels & we ride our bikes as much as possible. We give our recyclables to the people who live off collecting recyclables & we use around 120 gallons of water a week for a family of 5. All our newspaper reading we do on line & we are human/earth activist.

Recycle everything!

We recycle EVERYTHING! What the city won’t pick up we bring to recycling centers that will take it, and randomn items we try to make into something creative or donate to local artists. We purchase reused as often as possible, use all evnvironmentally friendly household supplies, eat local, and ride bikes as often as we can. And we love to plant things! Also we stay simplified by donating things we no longer need to local charities whenever they do a pick up. Keeps our lives fresh and flowing!

I have been vegetarian for

I have been vegetarian for 12+ years and walk to work every day. I always use cloth bags for groceries and other shopping trips, recycle/reuse everything possible and donate items I no longer need. I avoid printing things unless absolutely necessary and even then, I use recycled paper. Proper disposal of batteries and electronics is also important to me.

I try to watch my usage in

I try to watch my usage in general, be it waste or water. The earth shouldn’t suffer from our extra needs. Thanks for making products I love as well!

Health... naturally

I really like the natural healing methods that I’ve really begun to learn about and study.  If there’s one way of improving the earth naturally, it’s by getting rid of all the harmful chemicals (food additives, drugs, etc.) in our bodies and using the natural cures that nature provides.  Plants really are miraculous, and so are we!

I recycle whenever possible

I recycle whenever possible

How I leave the earth better

I recycle as much as possible. My family also donates items we no longer need to charity.

Oh, I’m sure I do a lot of

Oh, I’m sure I do a lot of the things everyone does: I try to buy less “stuff” in general - and am aware of excess packaging, and reuse items where I can and recycle the rest. I try to walk more and use the car less, and I also love to garden - and am using that as a tool to teach my children to love the Earth too.

Saving a Mississippi River Bluff in the heart of the city....

It’s taken 10 years, but we finally have a Park, Bluff St Park, on the Mississippi River Gorge in Cedar Riverside, in the heart of Minneapols. It’s bedrock bluff prairie, only aboout 320 acres left in Minnesota, was derelict land, owned by the Minneapolis Park Board and they first went to sell it for high rise condo development in 2000. That’s when I got involved. I lived right by it, walked the Bluff and loved the birds, butterflies, critters of all kinds. I especially loved watching the Eagles fishing in the River. Along the way,I became President of the neighborhood association and helped form the Bluff St Park Task Force. The Task Force has been meeting every month since 2002. In 2009 we won a Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Award for the “Good Luck and God Speed” category. That was when it became politically impossible for the Park Board to sell the land. We have the only gorge on the entire River! How cool is that? I must add that I love your Mesa Sunrise cereal. I use it to make gluten free, dark chocolate, Good for You Chocolate Crunchies. Yummm

I ♥ Green!

How inspiring to read about all of the good that others are doing for the environment! Here are some of the ways we’re trying to help the earth in our home: (1) we only use vinegar and baking soda to clean the house and we wash our laundry with reusable soap nuts; (2) we have completely stopped using synthetic hair & body products (opting instead for pure castille soap and products free from preservatives, parabens, sodium laurel sulfate, etc.); (3) because I have celiac disease, we get all of our great cereal from Nature’s Path (GF organic yumminess); (4) we eat organic and local whenever possible. Also, I’m a vegetarian, and while my husband still eats meat, he sources it locally from responsible farmers; (5) we only use glass containers (instead of plastic) and have completely stopped using plastic wrap. We use plates or reusable abeego wraps to cover bowls that don’t have lids; (6) we recycle; (7) we walk, ride a bike or take the bus as often as possible; (8) we conserve energy by turning off lights & unplugging most appliances when we’re not using them; (9) we are careful with our shopping selections - trying to choose products that come from the most renewable resources, have the least impact on the earth, and are well made so they will not need to be constantly replaced. I could go on, but that’s a start :)

A step at a time

Over the last few years, my husband and I have made a number of changes to help better the environment and our own health. We have planted grapes, berries, assorted citrus and figs in our backyard, take frequent walks instead of driving and replaced household cleaners with home recipes such as vinegar, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Our health has improved dramatically and we are proud to help take care of the earth as best as we can.

I Change The World (Wednesday)

Each week on my blog, I host Eco-friendly challenges called “Change The World Wednesday”. Each activity encourages participants to push themselves a bit and try an Eco-friendly activity that will help the earth … they also help raise awareness and show participants that it’s really not all that hard to live “green”. My blog has over 700 followers and most of them have accepted a challenge … some of them take it on weekly. We share information and learn from each other. It’s great! And oh yeah … I also participate in every challenge. It’s my effort to leave the earth better than I found it.

I’m leaving the earth better than I found it by helping to plant a community garden and composting at my own house!

Organic is a lifestyle

I just came back from buying my fruit trees to add to my amazing herb and vegetable garden. I love to support local farmers who are doing their best to keep the food safe to eat and environmentally sound. There is a farmers market near by that I frequent, but I am looking forward to watching my food grow and making HUGE salads!!! One day I would like to expand and have seasonal food all year long. I like to know where my food comes from and it makes me smile to keep to a natural way of life.

I'm helping the Earth by...

having replaced plastic bags in my house with reusable shopping bags and reusable food storage bags. I have also replaced paper towels with reusable rags (Skoy cloths). We make sure to turn off everything that is not in use. Not only does that cut down on electricity use, but it lowers the chance of the house catching on fire while I’m gone and hurting my fur babies. Lol. I keep the heat and air set on reasonable settings and turn the water heater to a lower temperature in the summer when people don’t want to take super hot showers. Thanks.
