I see that your maple brown sugar toaster pastries have caramel coloring in them.Is this the same ingredient that is being removed from Pepsi and Coke due to health concerns?

Hi Jennifer – Thanks for your question. We’re happy to share that the natural caramel used in our Organic Brown Sugar Maple Cinnamon Frosted Toaster Pastries is classified as ‘class 1 plain caramel color’. This ingredient therefore doesn’t contain ammonia or sulfates like some other artificial caramels do. As an organic company, we believe that using only organic, natural, and wholesome ingredients beats artificial food any day! Happy Munching, Itziar, Nature’s Path Team

Hi Riely and thanks for sharing your suggestion. That’s a wonderful idea, and I’ve just passed this input along to the Brand Manager. She mentioned that if your son loves sprinkles, you might want to try our Cherry Pomegran™ Frosted, Wildberry Acai Frosted, or Raspberry Frosted flavors as they all have yummy sprinkles on them. How about a bit healthier line of toaster pastries, with more fiber (at least 3-5g) and for goodness sakes, less sugar! 20g in one pastry?! that’s about 4 teaspoonfuls.

Thanks so much for taking a deeper interest in your health Mike! We love to see this! We use organic palm fruit oil which is, essentially, free of cholesterol. It’s a health alternative too - trans-fat free, non-genetically modified, high in phytonutrients, easily digested and absorbed. It’s also a naturally occurring source of the antioxidant Vitamin E.
